Zimbabwe Boat Capsizing Claims 84 Lives, Rescue Efforts Continue

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, police in Zimbabwe have confirmed that the number of victims from a capsized boat incident has reached 84. The nation’s police emphasized in a statement that search and rescue operations at the scene are continuing to determine the fate of other individuals listed as missing.
This updated figure was announced following the discovery and retrieval of four additional bodies from the lake on Sunday afternoon. Initial reports indicated that 153 passengers were aboard the vessel when the incident occurred, significantly exceeding its stated capacity of 90 people.
Lake Kariba, situated on the northern border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is recognized as the world’s largest artificial lake by volume. The expansive lake is shared by both Zimbabwe and Zambia, stretching over 200 kilometers in length and reaching widths of up to 40 kilometers in certain areas.
