US Envoy’s Actions Target Iraqi Resistance Forces, Says Coalition Leader

A prominent leader of Iraq’s Anbar coalition has accused the U.S. special envoy of creating a pathway to undermine and target resistance forces. The official called for the disarmament of all armed groups, including Kurdish forces and militias, and the expulsion of foreign troops.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mohammad Al-Dhari, a leader in the Anbar Salvation Council, stated that the strategy of U.S. Special Envoy Barbara Leaf opens the door to weakening and targeting Iraqi resistance forces. Al-Dhari emphasized that the disarmament process should encompass all groups, including the Peshmerga, Kurdish forces, the so-called Nineveh Guard, Kirkuk Shield militias, and separatist factions opposed to Iran.

Al-Dhari asserted that the central government must make a decisive move to expel American soldiers and international coalition forces from all Iraqi bases and to end the Turkish military presence in the country’s north. He further highlighted that Ambassador Barbara Leaf’s plan targets resistance forces while overlooking the armament of Kurdish forces, suggesting the government should treat these Kurdish groups as elements outside central government control.

It is noteworthy that Washington officials have repeatedly stressed the necessity of disarming the resistance forces, particularly the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), in light of their role in thwarting U.S.-Zionist projects in Iraq.
