Pakistan Supreme Court Orders Transfer of Imran Khan to Hospital

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday mandated the transfer of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from prison to a hospital. The decision was made in response to persistent demands from his party and family, who had expressed significant concerns about his deteriorating health.
Imran Khan, a 73-year-old politician and former cricket star, has been in detention since August 2023. He has been convicted in several cases, which he maintains were politically motivated and initiated after his removal from power in 2022.
Naeem Haider Panjotha, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, stated that the Supreme Court has directed Imran Khan to be moved to the Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours and remain there until September 16. His sons have repeatedly voiced worries about his father’s critical health condition over the past year. His legal representatives have also reported that he has lost a substantial portion of vision in his right eye during his time in custody.
