Egypt and Oman Emphasize Diplomatic Efforts to De-escalate Regional Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a phone conversation with his Omani counterpart, Badr Albusaidi, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. The discussion underscored the strong fraternal ties between Egypt and Oman and their shared interest in deepening cooperation for mutual benefit.
Both ministers engaged in an in-depth exchange on current regional dynamics, including a forthcoming joint statement between Iran and Oman concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and Oman’s ongoing diplomatic efforts. They highlighted the critical importance of safeguarding maritime security and freedom of navigation in this vital waterway, which they believe can help de-escalate tensions and create an environment conducive to returning to negotiation tables under a memorandum of understanding to achieve a comprehensive and lasting agreement.
The foreign ministers of Egypt and Oman stressed the paramount significance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to international shipping. They warned that the continuation of the current situation would have repercussions extending beyond regional states, impacting the global economy, energy security, supply chains, and international trade flows.
Minister Shoukry and Minister Albusaidi also emphasized the necessity of sustained diplomatic endeavors to mitigate tensions, guarantee unimpeded navigation, and prevent any actions that could exacerbate regional instability. The two sides agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination in the period ahead regarding regional developments and to support all ongoing efforts aimed at de-escalation, prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions to preserve regional security and stability.
