Russia Affirms Unwavering Sovereignty Over Southern Kuril Islands

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that Moscow’s protest against the anti-Russian statements of the Japanese Prime Minister concerning the Russian President’s visit to the Kuril Islands has been conveyed to Japan’s ambassador in Moscow.

The Russian side emphasized in discussions with the Japanese ambassador that Russia’s sovereignty over the Southern Kuril Islands is immutable. The statement further underscored that any Japanese attempts to question Russian sovereignty over these islands are unacceptable and illegal.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Moscow reserves the right to take appropriate reciprocal measures in response to Japan’s alignment with Western policies and its support for Kyiv.
