Qatar and Syria Condemn Israeli Air Strikes on Abu Duhur Airport

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qatar has vehemently condemned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted Abu Duhur military airport in Syria, stating that these actions are pushing the region towards heightened tensions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced its condemnation of the Israeli aerial assault on the military airport.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry’s statement asserted that Israel’s continuous violations of regional countries’ sovereignty reveal a dangerous approach aimed at imposing faits accomplis through force. The ministry further stated that a lack of accountability and deterrence encourages Israel to continue its aggression, thereby threatening regional security and stability and driving it toward escalating tensions.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that if Israel seeks to impose a new reality, the international community must treat it as being beyond the law. The statement reiterated Qatar’s unwavering stance in support of Syria and declared solidarity with the Syrian government and its sovereignty.
Meanwhile, a Syrian military source speaking to Al-Ekhbariya Syria confirmed that Israeli warplanes conducted eight attacks on the runway of Abu Duhur military airport in the eastern Idlib countryside early Tuesday, August 18. The source added that these strikes caused only damage to the airport’s infrastructure and resulted in no casualties.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned the Israeli regime’s airstrikes on Abu Duhur military airport in Idlib province in the strongest possible terms, describing the act as an unjustified aggression, a clear violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a dangerous act of de-escalation that jeopardizes regional security and stability.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry’s statement noted that the continuation of these aggressions from December 8, 2024, to the present, especially at a time when the Syrian government has exercised restraint and is striving to consolidate stability and prevent further escalation of the crisis, reveals the intentions of the Israeli occupiers to undermine these efforts and draw the region toward greater unrest.
The statement clarified that the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds the Israeli occupation regime fully responsible for this escalation and calls upon the international community and the Security Council to explicitly condemn this aggression and adopt a decisive stance against the repeated violations of Syrian sovereignty. Syria concluded by affirming its commitment to defending its national rights and interests through all legitimate means guaranteed by international laws and customs.
