Egyptian President Sisi Emphasizes Libyan Unity and Institutional Cohesion

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi hosted Libyan National Army Commander Khalifa Haftar, underscoring the importance of preserving Libya’s territorial integrity and unifying its state and military institutions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, on Wednesday. The meeting, as reported by Al-Ahram, highlighted the deep fraternal ties between Egypt and Libya and the significance of strengthening the historical connections between the two neighboring nations.

President Sisi, in his discussions with Haftar, stressed the necessity of maintaining Libya’s unity, working towards the cohesion and integration of the country’s civilian and military institutions. He also emphasized the need to create conditions conducive to holding nationwide elections, including parliamentary and presidential polls, to achieve lasting stability within Libya.

Present at the meeting were also Khaled Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army; Belqasim Haftar, head of the Libyan Reconstruction Fund; and Hassan Rashad, head of Egyptian General Intelligence.
