Ship Traffic Through Strait of Hormuz Plummets, Data Shows

Ship movements through the Strait of Hormuz have drastically decreased, with only seven vessels transiting the vital waterway on Saturday, according to Kpler data cited by Al Jazeera. This trend contrasts with claims by the Trump administration that the strait remains open for oil tanker traffic.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, data released by Kpler, a company specializing in vessel tracking, indicates a significant reduction in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. On Saturday alone, only seven vessels passed through the strategic chokepoint.

Earlier reports from Politico had highlighted the Trump administration’s assertion that the Strait of Hormuz was open for trade and that oil tanker passages were ongoing. However, market trackers present a less optimistic picture.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that oil flows freely through the Strait of Hormuz. Yet, experts suggest that the figures provided by the Trump administration cannot be relied upon, as there is a lack of concrete data demonstrating the actual volume of oil transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
