Uruguay to Arrest Netanyahu if He Visits, Cites International Criminal Court Warrant

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Uruguay is prepared to detain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should he visit the South American nation, due to an international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Valeria Csakó, Uruguay’s Deputy Foreign Minister, affirmed this stance during an appearance on the online program “Al Weso” on “Aweno TV.” She stated that Uruguay, bound by its international obligations to the ICC, would be compelled to enforce the warrant and act accordingly if Netanyahu were to arrive in the country, a scenario she described as undeniable.
Csakó reiterated Uruguay’s unwavering commitment to its international responsibilities, leaving no room for doubt regarding the nation’s position on the matter. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November 2024 for Benjamin Netanyahu and the former Defense Minister of the Israeli regime, citing alleged commission of crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
