Hamas Seeks Strong Entry into Palestinian Legislative Elections

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has declared its strong inclination to participate in the upcoming Palestinian Legislative Council elections, aiming to forge the broadest possible national coalition. This move signals Hamas’s desire to leverage the elections for establishing a consensual political system that unifies Palestinian factions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas aims to enter the Palestinian Legislative Council elections within the framework of the widest possible national coalition. Hazem Qasem, spokesperson for Hamas, stated that this aspiration reflects the movement’s efforts to transform the future elections into an opportunity for establishing a genuine consensual political system that garners the consensus of Palestinian streams.

Qasem further added that this approach is pursued with the objective of paving the way for the formation of a unified national leadership capable of collectively managing all national issues and files, particularly in light of the existential challenges confronting the Palestinian people and cause.

Previously, a delegation from the Hamas movement, headed by Khalil Al-Hayya, head of the movement’s political bureau, engaged in discussions and consultations with Egyptian officials. The delegation also met with representatives of Palestinian groups and factions to discuss developments concerning the Palestinian issue.

These meetings took place amidst ongoing efforts to organize and restructure the Palestinian internal landscape in preparation for the Palestinian Legislative Council elections scheduled for November 2026.
