Turkey Warns of Black Sea Insecurity’s Economic Impact on Global Grain Prices

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish officials have issued strong warnings regarding the potential economic repercussions of ongoing insecurity in the Black Sea. Kazım Tayci, Chairman of the Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, and Oilseeds Exporters’ Association, stated that if attacks on ships in the Black Sea continue, global grain prices could rise by 10 to 12 percent.
These concerns were highlighted following an incident where a vessel managed by Ankara was struck in the Black Sea, and a tugboat dispatched to assist it was also targeted. In response, Turkish diplomatic sources announced on Saturday that Ukraine’s ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ukraine has reportedly been targeting vessels associated with Russia in the Black Sea as a measure to exert pressure on Moscow. Russia, in turn, has issued a warning that it will not remain silent in the face of Kyiv’s hostile actions against its interests in the Black Sea and will take retaliatory measures.
