Chinese President Xi Jinping to Visit Egypt for Bilateral Talks

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to begin his official visit to Egypt on Tuesday. The visit will involve discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and international matters.
The Egyptian Presidency announced that President El-Sisi will welcome President Xi as part of the Chinese leader’s official visit, without specifying its duration. The statement indicated that the visit aims to enhance political, economic, and development cooperation, and to review the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement signed between the two nations in 2014. Both sides are also expected to deliberate on shared regional and international concerns during their talks.
In an article published in Egypt’s state-run newspapers Al-Ahram, Akhbar, and Al-Gomhuria on Tuesday, President Xi Jinping stated that relations between China and Egypt are at their best historical juncture after 70 years of friendship. He called for a more comprehensive strategic partnership, expanded high-quality cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, stronger cultural exchanges, and closer China-Arab and China-Africa collaboration.
Meanwhile, President El-Sisi, in an article published in Al-Ahram, remarked that Egypt and China agree that the escalation of armed conflicts benefits no regional or international party. President Xi Jinping’s visit is part of an overseas tour scheduled from August 30 to September 3. This marks his first visit to Egypt in the past decade. Bilateral trade between China and Egypt has surged to over $10 billion.
The visit also takes place amid deepening military cooperation between the two countries. Their air forces recently conducted a joint exercise codenamed “Eagles of Civilization” in Egypt, involving Chinese J-16 fighter jets and Egyptian Rafale aircraft, along with other military equipment. Egypt was the first Arab and African nation to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China in 1956. The two countries forged a strategic partnership in 1999 and elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in December 2014.
