Hamas and Islamic Jihad Discuss Palestinian Developments and Upcoming Elections

Senior officials from Hamas and Islamic Jihad held a phone consultation to review the latest developments in Palestine, the ongoing Israeli transgressions, and preparations for upcoming legislative elections. Both movements emphasized the importance of broad participation and opposition to appointed positions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movement have reviewed the latest Palestinian developments and the upcoming elections, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, quoting the Shihab News Agency.

Hossam Badran, a member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, discussed the latest developments and current issues on the Palestinian scene in a phone call with Salem Attallah, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine.

During this conversation, the situation in the Gaza Strip under the continued aggression of the Zionist regime and its consequences, as well as a number of important national and political issues, were discussed.

Badran and Attallah also discussed political developments and the upcoming elections, chief among them the Palestinian Legislative Council elections.

Both sides stressed the importance of the participation of various factions of Palestinian forces, groups, and influential national figures in the electoral process to expand participation and strengthen Palestinian political representation.

In this regard, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movement emphasized their opposition to the principle of appointing members and called for representation in national institutions to be achieved through electoral participation.

In another part of the conversation, the process of forming the Palestinian National Alliance was reviewed. This alliance is intended to include active and influential Palestinian forces and groups alongside national figures.

The two sides emphasized that the aim of forming this alliance is to coordinate positions and efforts regarding the upcoming elections and the national issues raised, as well as to consult on the next phase.

Badran and Attallah concluded by agreeing to continue their contacts and consultations in the upcoming period and to increase dialogue with various Palestinian forces on political and electoral issues to create the ground for reaching understandings and common frameworks on the raised topics.
