US Treasury Secretary Claims Global Campaign to Isolate Iran Economically

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced a global campaign to cut off Iran’s last economic links. Speaking to Newsmax, Bessent attempted to justify economic challenges within the United States, attributing them in part to the repercussions of a costly U.S. intervention against Iran. He claimed, “We have launched a global campaign to sever the last economic ties with Iran!”

The U.S. Treasury Secretary, facing the certainty of Republican losses in the upcoming midterm congressional elections, sought to explain some of his country’s governmental failures, despite spending tens of billions of dollars in actions against Tehran. He stated, “The current Iranian government may fall sooner than many expect!”

Scott Bessent, despite the experience of the “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, asserted, “Our goal is to apply sufficient economic pressure to compel Tehran to return to the negotiating table under terms acceptable to Trump.” Bessent added that Trump believes previous diplomatic efforts failed because Iranian leaders were not ready to reach an agreement. Trump is determined that Iran should not emerge from this conflict unchanged, maintaining its current government and capabilities.
