US Military Casualty Figures Face Scrutiny Amidst Conflicting Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, fresh reports from military engagements involving Iran and the United States have revealed a significant discrepancy between official Washington statistics and battlefield realities. This has cast doubt on the accuracy of casualty numbers released by the Pentagon.

Data purportedly released by the U.S. Department of Defense, and examined by the media outlet ‘RIA Novosti,’ claims that the number of American military personnel killed since the start of hostilities stands at 838. This figure reportedly includes 18 fatalities and 820 injuries.

However, these numbers have been met with widespread skepticism from prominent global media outlets, including ‘The New York Times’ and ‘The Intercept.’ These publications have accused the Pentagon of attempting to “downplay the true extent” of its forces’ losses and casualties due to political pressures.

In contrast, Iranian military officials are presenting entirely different statistics. Mohsen Rezaei, in clear statements, announced that Iran’s missile and drone attacks have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers and injured hundreds more.

In line with these claims, ‘The New York Times,’ citing sources close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that the actual number of fatalities at U.S. bases in Jordan, Iraq, and the Persian Gulf region is approaching 500 soldiers.

Despite these reports, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has unequivocally rejected these claims, asserting its commitment to transparency after notifying the families of victims. This assertion, however, faces serious doubts given field reports and analyses from international media outlets.
