UN Security Council Debates Iran; Russia Opposes Anti-Iran Resolutions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Nations Security Council convened on Thursday to address matters concerning Iran. Russia’s representative at the Security Council session focused on Iran stated, “The Russian Federation opposes resolutions issued against Iran. We support China’s statement regarding the snapback mechanism. We believe the snapback mechanism has concluded and we are witnessing the sunset of the JCPOA.”

The US representative, addressing the Security Council session on Iran, declared, “The United States strongly rejects the statements by China and Russia and supports the positions of the United Kingdom. Last year, this council decided to reinstate sanctions resolutions against Iran and resume the implementation of these sanctions.” He alleged, “Today, a 90-day report must be presented, but the Iranian government has unfortunately blocked access to nuclear sites. Russia and China want to ignore the resolutions and defend Iran by vetoing them; they are disregarding the fundamental principles of the United Nations.”
