China Hopes India Will Provide Fair Conditions for Chinese Companies

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Guo Jiajun, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, responded to reports alleging that Indian authorities are investigating the Chinese company Xiaomi. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Beijing hopes India will provide neutral and non-discriminatory conditions for Chinese companies and those from other countries. Guo Jiajun further added that the trade and economic relations between China and India are based on mutual benefit and win-win partnerships.

This comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to travel to India this week to participate in a two-day BRICS summit in New Delhi. This visit signals a gradual improvement in relations between the two countries following border tensions in 2020. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled for September 12-13 in New Delhi, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be Xi’s first visit to India since 2019.

China-India relations were severely strained after the border clash in the Ladakh region in 2020, which resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and 4 Chinese soldiers. However, the two countries have taken steps in recent years to de-escalate tensions and resume high-level interactions, with Modi having visited China last year.
