According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a significant diplomatic gathering is anticipated as foreign ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states plan to convene with their Iranian counterpart. This meeting, orchestrated within the framework of Oman and Iran’s initiatives, seeks to secure endorsement for a provisional agreement to manage shipping through the vital Strait of Hormuz, as regional nations pursue avenues to reduce tensions over this critical waterway.

Spearheaded by Oman, this session marks the first encounter between senior diplomats from the six GCC member states and a high-ranking Iranian official since the commencement of hostilities in February. The meeting is reportedly scheduled for Monday in the coastal city of Salalah, Oman, according to two informed sources.

While final details are still being confirmed, one of the individuals indicated that several countries have affirmed their participation, suggesting the meeting is likely to proceed as planned. Approximately two weeks prior, Tehran and Muscat announced they were finalizing a temporary accord. This proposed agreement outlines a framework wherein vessels would enter the Strait via Iranian waters and primarily exit through Omani territory.
