Saudi Arabia Claims Drones from Iraq Targeted Oil Pipeline, Vows Response
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asserted that an assault on the nation’s vital oil artery was carried out by several drones originating from Iraq. The ministry condemned the targeting of the “East-West” oil pipeline, stating that the attacks resulted in multiple injuries.
The ministry further indicated that Saudi Arabia has opted not to retaliate at this juncture and will support the efforts of the government in Baghdad, in line with a request from the Iraqi Prime Minister. Saudi Arabia reserves the right to undertake all necessary actions to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and facilities.
Earlier, a source within the Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that the “East-West” oil pipeline, located in the Riyadh and Medina regions, was subjected to multiple attacks on the morning of Thursday, September 10, 2026. The source verified the precautionary suspension of the pipeline’s operations, noting that the attacks caused several injuries, who are currently receiving necessary medical care.
The source elaborated that technical teams and emergency response groups were immediately dispatched to the site following the attacks. They undertook essential measures to secure the pipeline and assess its integrity, adhering to approved emergency plans and safety protocols in coordination with relevant authorities.
Concurrently, the Iraqi government issued a statement expressing appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s stance and its response to Iraq’s endeavors to de-escalate the situation. The Iraqi Prime Minister has ordered an immediate investigation into the attacks, the identification of those responsible, and legal action against all involved parties.
Previously, U.S. officials speaking with CNN confirmed the targeting of Saudi Arabia’s Jubail-Yanbu pipeline by projectiles from Yemen. Satellite imagery depicting a fire has also been released.
Al-Masirah TV in Yemen reported that satellite images showing the spread of smoke from the pipeline explosion over an 80-kilometer area indicate the precision of the strike, suggesting it was more than a routine fire incident.
