Russia: West Unprepared to Discuss European Security Crisis Causes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia‘s Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that Western countries are not prepared to discuss ways to overcome the European security crisis or its causes, including the deteriorating military-political situation in Europe and NATO expansion.
The Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE emphasized that Russia has repeatedly highlighted the European security crisis and the necessity of addressing its roots, pointing to the severe deterioration of the military-political situation in Europe and the collapse of the previous security structure.
Polyanskiy commented, “Given the fundamental differences in the views and assessments of the member states of this organization regarding the causes of the European security crisis and how to overcome it, I do not think we can expect such a discussion to take place, even though it is essential. Western countries are not yet prepared for this work.”
He further added, “For example, it is very important that the OSCE reaches an agreement on next year’s presidency as soon as possible. Another vital task is to agree on future budget frameworks.”
