Key ISIS Leader ‘Abu Sahel’ Captured in Kirkuk Operation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Military Intelligence Directorate announced on Sunday the successful apprehension of a wanted terrorist in a preemptive and precise operation. The individual, identified by the alias Abu Sahel, was a significant target for security agencies, as stated in a release from Iraq’s Security Media Cell.
The operation culminated after extensive intelligence gathering and the identification of the suspect’s hideout in the Yayiji district of Kirkuk province. This success was achieved through coordinated efforts between the intelligence division of the 8th Division and the Yayiji intelligence unit.
Sources indicate that the arrested terrorist held various positions during the period when ISIS operated what was known as its “Wilayat Iraq.” He was active within the Yarmouk Division in Anbar province, specifically on the Saqlawiyah front. Furthermore, during the presence of the terrorist group in parts of Anbar, he held roles within an entity referred to as the “Diwan al-Khidmat” (Service Bureau).
Necessary legal measures have been initiated against the accused, and he has been referred to the judiciary for legal proceedings in accordance with current laws.
