US Acknowledges Iran Downed Two MQ-1 Drones

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. officials have admitted that Iran downed two MQ-1 type drones over the past few days, as reported by Al Jazeera and subsequently by CBS News, citing these officials. This U.S. acknowledgement comes after earlier statements from the Public Relations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC had previously announced that an advanced MQ-1 drone was intercepted and destroyed by the aerospace force’s modern air defense system, operating under the country’s integrated air defense network, over the Strait of Hormuz. Sources also indicated that an advanced MQ-9 drone belonging to the United States Army, which was violating the airspace of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the general area of Qeshm Island, was destroyed by the fire of the IRGC’s advanced air defense systems.

The operation to intercept and destroy these encroaching aircraft was conducted as part of the national integrated air defense network, leveraging indigenous capabilities of radar and missile systems.
