Qatar Claims US Pursuing Deal with Iran, Facilitating Talks

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson announced on Sunday that ongoing diplomatic efforts involve exchanging ideas with Iran and Washington to potentially resume negotiations, with assurances from the U.S. regarding its pursuit of an agreement.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qatar has claimed that the United States is actively seeking to reach an agreement with Iran. Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Sunday that for approximately two weeks, there have been exchanges of various ideas concerning the resumption of negotiations with Iran.

Al-Ansari elaborated that Qatari mediators are currently traveling between different capitals to assess the possibility of resuming talks between Tehran and Washington. He further asserted that Qatari intermediaries have received assurances from U.S. officials that Washington is indeed seeking an agreement.

The spokesperson also emphasized Qatar’s view on regional stability and international understanding for the protection of vital waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz. He commented, “We need a regional solution to guarantee stability and an international understanding to protect waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.” Al-Ansari added that placing waterways under the sovereignty of a specific government and using them as a weapon creates a dangerous precedent for all.
