France Sees Widespread Protests and Clashes Over Police Use of Force Law

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, widespread protests erupted in multiple French cities as demonstrators took to the streets to oppose a controversial new law, referred to as the “kill permit” or “right to kill” bill, which is seen as automatically legalizing police use of force.

The demonstrations saw significant turnouts, with approximately 50,000 people participating in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Toulouse. These protests quickly escalated into severe confrontations between the demonstrators and security forces in what became a day of widespread civil unrest.

The legislation has sparked considerable public outcry, with critics arguing it grants excessive power to law enforcement and potentially undermines civil liberties. The government, however, has maintained that the law is necessary to protect police officers and ensure public safety.
