Pakistan, France Urge Implementation of US-Iran Understanding Amid Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar held consultations on significant regional and international matters. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry’s statement highlighted that the foreign ministers of Pakistan and France, during their discussion, stressed the importance of implementing the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, often referred to as the Islamabad Accord. The ministry further added that the two countries’ foreign ministers underscored the necessity of ensuring maritime security. This joint appeal from Pakistan and France for the “implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran” occurs in the context of alleged U.S. incursions into Iranian territory, which spanned 12 and 39 days, respectively. These actions, described as contrary to all international laws, reportedly took place during indirect Tehran-Washington negotiations, which, according to the Iranian perspective, have demonstrated that the U.S. does not genuinely seek negotiation.
