Kabul Summons Pakistani Charge d’Affaires Amid Air Strikes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the interim government of Afghanistan announced on Monday that it had summoned the charge d’affaires of Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul following airstrikes by Islamabad on the provinces of Kunar and Paktika.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the interim government of Afghanistan stated that Kabul considers these attacks a clear violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and strongly condemns them.

This development comes shortly after Pakistan’s Ministry of Information announced that 28 “terrorists” and suicide bombers were killed in airstrikes conducted in Afghanistan. Informed sources indicated that these airstrikes took place at 3 AM local time targeting a house in the Battan area of Nurghal. Additional attacks were also carried out in the Barmal district of the border province of Paktika.

The airstrikes occur amidst escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries. Islamabad had previously accused Afghan interim government officials of harboring elements of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for conducting attacks against Pakistan. The Afghan Taliban, however, has denied these accusations.
