US Secretary of State: Washington Open to Meeting Iranian Officials at UN

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has claimed that Washington is ready to hold a meeting with Iranian officials at the United Nations headquarters. Speaking in an interview with NBC News, Rubio asserted, “We are prepared for such a meeting. I don’t think anything is scheduled at the moment, but we are certainly prepared for something like that, especially if there is a possibility that it could lead to a positive result and ultimately achieve the main goal of this matter.” He reiterated his country’s adversarial stance, claiming, “The goal is for Iran to never be able to acquire nuclear weapons. They simply cannot have such weapons.” This statement follows recent remarks by the U.S. President, who had also expressed openness to the idea of meeting with the Iranian President on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this week.
