Lavrov and Rubio Hold Talks Amid UN General Assembly Session

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio held discussions on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting, reported by Sputnik News Agency, focused on cooperation between Russia and the United States within the UN framework and other pertinent matters.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the two senior diplomats were expected to engage in dialogue regarding the extensive potential for collaboration between Russia and the U.S. as permanent members of the UN Security Council. However, the ministry noted that this significant capacity for cooperation remains largely untapped.

Lavrov is representing Russia at the 81st session and is scheduled to deliver a speech on Saturday. The general debates at the UN General Assembly are slated to take place from September 22 to September 26, with further discussions resuming on September 28.
