Rubio: Iran Nuclear Deal Requires Significant Time and Effort, Denounces Regional Threats

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted on Wednesday that achieving a deal with Iran would require considerable time and effort. Speaking in a manner perceived by some as an attempt to influence oil prices and contrary to certain media reports, Rubio claimed the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz is open. He further posited that Iran believes Democrats will win the upcoming midterm elections, limiting President Trump’s ability to take action against Tehran.

The U.S. Secretary of State, who appears to be attempting to offset perceived failures in an illegal incursion into Iran by deflecting from reality, alleged that Iran’s proxy forces in the region threaten the security and sovereignty of nations. He emphasized that the U.S. will consistently act based on its national interests and will not prioritize international order over its own objectives. Rubio also noted a consensus among Persian Gulf countries regarding the importance of keeping the straits open and secure from attacks.

Without addressing the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, Rubio claimed there is a consensus that Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. He further alleged that numerous countries are affected by Iran’s proxy forces and that the Houthis should not be permitted to control the region.

Rubio also added that Russia and Ukraine have expressed a desire for a limited ceasefire that would include grain and energy exports. He stated that the conflict in Ukraine will conclude through a negotiated settlement rather than on the battlefield, acknowledging that achieving a limited ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine will not be easy, and expressing the U.S. readiness to play a constructive role in this process.
