Chinese President Calls for Iran and US Return to Islamabad Accord

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, China‘s official news agency has reported that President Xi Jinping is calling for the United States and Iran to return to the Islamabad Accord. The Chinese President has encouraged Tehran and Washington to resolve their existing issues through negotiations as swiftly as possible.

During a meeting with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, at the White House while visiting New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Xi Jinping stated that efforts are underway to expand cooperation horizons with the United States. The Chinese President highlighted that China and the U.S. bear a historical responsibility for achieving human development.

He expressed that relations between China and the United States, despite existing differences, should be strengthened with the aim of creating common ground. Xi Jinping continued, stating that cooperation is essential as the interests of China and the United States are interconnected. He welcomed American companies to operate within China and expressed hope for fair treatment from the U.S.

Addressing the development of artificial intelligence, the Chinese President noted that it must remain under human control and that Beijing is prepared to enhance cooperation with the United States in combating drug trafficking. Xi Jinping reiterated that China and the U.S. should coexist peacefully, as cooperation yields benefits while confrontation leads to losses. He added that China and the United States should engage in ‘competition’ rather than ‘conflict,’ and avoid the trap of entering into confrontations.
