Kuwait Crown Prince Accuses Iran of Maritime Disruption, Faces Scrutiny Over US Presence
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kuwait‘s Crown Prince has made unsubstantiated claims against the Islamic Republic of Iran, alleging that Iran’s actions, such as disrupting maritime navigation and threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, are damaging the economies of regional and global nations, as well as impacting trade and oil markets.
He further asserted that Iran is utilizing the Strait of Hormuz as leverage in negotiations.
Without acknowledging the use of Kuwaiti territory by American forces for operations against Iran, the Crown Prince claimed that his country has been subjected to “Iranian aggression.”
Concurrently, he reiterated Kuwait’s support for efforts to achieve peaceful resolutions to ongoing conflicts and affirmed the nation’s commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter.
These baseless statements from the Kuwaiti Crown Prince come at a time when the country hosts significant U.S. military bases and forces. During past escalations between Iran and the United States, military installations in Kuwait used by American personnel were targeted by Iranian missile and drone strikes.
In another part of his address, the Crown Prince emphasized the necessity of reforming the United Nations Security Council to align with evolving international relations. He stated that Kuwait supports peaceful initiatives aimed at resolving regional crises.
He also expressed support for the Iraqi Prime Minister’s actions to consolidate weapons solely within the government’s control. Addressing regional developments, he underscored Kuwait’s backing for United Nations efforts to resolve the crisis in Yemen.
Furthermore, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince condemned attacks by the Yemeni army on Saudi Arabian positions, while notably omitting any mention of Saudi Arabia’s aggression against Yemen.
He voiced support for efforts to rebuild the Syrian government and denounced the advances of Israeli forces on Syrian territory.
The Kuwaiti Crown Prince continued by calling for the withdrawal of Israel from occupied Lebanese territories and stressed Kuwait’s support for the full implementation of the peace plan concerning Gaza, including the departure of Israeli forces from the region.
Concluding his remarks, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince stated that his country’s foreign policy is founded on the principles of the UN Charter, respect for good neighborliness, and the sovereignty of nations.
