International Conference in New York Affirms Two-State Solution as Sole Path to Peace
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a pivotal conference on the two-state solution for Palestine, held in New York, saw significant backing from a broad spectrum of international representatives. Participants emphasized that this framework remains the sole viable pathway to achieving lasting peace between Palestine and Israel.
Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, unequivocally stated at the conference that the two-state solution is the only route to peace. He noted that some Israeli cabinet ministers reject Palestinians’ right to life, calling for deterrent measures against such stances. Safadi warned that if the opportunities for implementing the two-state solution are lost, the alternative would be a single-state entity that cannot lead to peace. He further cautioned that Israeli settlement expansion is actively undermining the prospects of the two-state solution, specifically highlighting the need to prevent settlements that divide the northern West Bank from its southern parts.
Spain’s Foreign Minister addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, describing it as catastrophic. The minister stressed the importance of supporting peace and combating hate speech and discrimination through tangible actions.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Atty, reported a noticeable decline in the Israeli side’s commitment to the two-state solution. He expressed appreciation for the United Kingdom’s efforts to impose sanctions on Israeli settlement activities. Abdel Atty urged breaking the current stalemate in the peace process and working towards the two-state solution, adding that Egypt, in cooperation with mediators, has reached an agreement regarding the roadmap for completing U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza. The Egyptian Foreign Minister also reiterated Egypt’s opposition to policies aimed at displacing Palestinians and emphasized the necessity of preventing the separation of the West Bank from the Gaza Strip. He warned that continued military attacks on Gaza and the obstruction of humanitarian aid could reignite the situation.
Abdel Atty also condemned the targeting of international organizations, stating that such actions would only increase chaos.
Japan’s Foreign Minister acknowledged the increasing difficulty of achieving the two-state solution and urged Israel to halt its unilateral actions. The British Foreign Secretary underscored the necessity of pursuing the two-state solution and advocated for increased political pressure on the Israeli cabinet to achieve tangible progress on the Palestinian issue. Regarding Gaza, the British minister stated that the situation there is a source of shame for the international community and a stain on Tel Aviv’s reputation.
Indonesia’s Foreign Minister pointed out that the Palestinian people continue to suffer from violence and displacement, a year after the “New York Declaration.”
Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, affirmed that there is no alternative to adhering to international law and implementing the two-state solution. He highlighted that recent developments pose an unprecedented threat to the two-state solution, particularly due to Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank. Al-Khulaifi urged the international community to confront Tel Aviv’s actions to protect the two-state solution. He also mentioned Qatar’s ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, noting that Israel’s actions are undermining attempts to implement the second phase of the peace plan.
