Israeli Police Brace for Post-Election Unrest, Citing ‘Nothing Impossible’
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli police are preparing for scenarios that include widespread riots, rejection of election results, and attempts to attack the regime’s centers in occupied Jerusalem. This information is based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Russia Today.
The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth,” in a report citing the newspaper “Bild,” stated that the regime’s police have conducted two simulated drills based on these scenarios and are strengthening security measures to protect the regime’s government centers.
Avshalom Peld, the commander of the regime’s police in the Jerusalem region, referring to the similarity of one of the scenarios to the January 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol building, stated that in the current circumstances, “nothing is impossible.”
According to the report, the regime’s police concerns are not limited to election day. The possibility of political disputes escalating into street violence after the announcement of results is also factored into the security calculations of this body.
Peld also identified the holy Temple Mount as one of the sensitive and concerning points, stating that any change in current policies, including regarding entry for religious rituals, would require decisions at high political levels and precise security assessments.
The Israeli regime’s police have announced that they will intervene to maintain public order and protect the regime’s governmental institutions if protests turn violent.
