Iraqi Lawmaker Criticizes Baghdad’s Move Against Iran, Cites External Dictates

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Iraqi parliamentarian has strongly condemned Baghdad’s recent decision to suspend Iranian flights, asserting that Iraq’s sovereignty cannot be achieved through external dictates. Faleh Al-Khazali, a member of the Iraqi Parliament associated with the Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades, stated that the Iranian airline, whose flights were halted by the Iraqi government at the behest of the United States, was the sole entity supporting Iraq until its liberation.

This criticism follows earlier remarks by Hussein Al-Mousawi, media deputy to the Secretary-General of Iraq’s Nujaba movement, who highlighted Iran’s role in ensuring the safe passage of Iraqi oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Al-Mousawi questioned whether suspending flights was an appropriate form of gratitude for Iran’s contributions.

He further emphasized that Iran continues to supply essential gas to Iraqi power plants, maintaining its supportive stance towards Baghdad. Al-Mousawi recalled that Iran opened its borders for trade with Iraq and its armories for the country’s defense.
