Ethiopian Army Chief: Tigray Forces Lack Foreign Support, Seek New Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting Al Jazeera News Agency, the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Army announced on Saturday that the Tigray front, through its provocative actions, is seeking to drag the country into a new war. We are exercising restraint regarding the actions of the Tigray front to prevent the people from being drawn into a futile conflict.

The statement issued by the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Army in this regard stated: “Armed groups are not capable of confronting Ethiopia without foreign support.”

This comes as current developments have once again amplified concerns over the renewal of conflict between army forces and fighters of the so-called Tigray People’s Liberation Front in northern Ethiopia, which occurred between 2020 and 2022 and resulted in at least 600,000 deaths.
