Iraqi Bloc Leader Urges Baghdad to Reject Unfair Sanctions Against Tehran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hadi al-Amiri, Secretary-General of Iraq‘s Badr Organization, stated that his group vehemently rejects and condemns the unjust blockade imposed by the United States on Iran, particularly the recent air travel restrictions. Al-Amiri added that the Iraqi government should not comply with this unfair decision, considering it the first test of achieving complete and comprehensive sovereignty.

This comes as Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi also wrote on his personal page earlier today that closing Iraqi airports to Iranian flights is a “big mistake” and a retreat from national sovereignty. He further elaborated that closing airports to their neighbor, ally, and friend is a major error, a step back from national sovereignty, and a sacrifice of national interests and future.

Previously, the Secretary-General of Iraq’s Nujaba Movement had threatened to call upon the Iraqi people, Husseini processions, and pilgrim service providers to stage a sit-in at Iraqi airports if the issue of continued flight restrictions between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran is not resolved.
