Vessel Owners Apologize for Unauthorized Strait of Hormuz Transit
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Persian Gulf Waterway Management Authority has released the text of an apology email from vessel owners regarding an unauthorized transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
The email states: “To: Respected PGSA Officials, Vessel Owners, We hereby officially present our sincere apologies and explanations concerning the unauthorized passage of a vessel through the Strait of Hormuz.”
The owners explicitly declared that the violation was neither at the behest of the vessel’s owner nor due to negligence by the ship’s commander. Instead, the incident occurred as a direct result of mandatory and direct orders from the charterer. The charterer instructed the ship’s commander to proceed through the strait immediately, without completing the necessary declaration, confirmation, and transit procedures stipulated by PGSA regulations. Under severe commercial pressure, the ship’s commander had no choice but to comply with the charterer’s directives, leading to this procedural violation.
A warning has been issued to vessels transiting through unauthorized routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
The owners affirmed their full recognition and respect for PGSA’s authority over the waters of the Strait of Hormuz and its regulations for managing and controlling traffic in this waterway. They reiterated their consistent policy of ensuring all vessels under their management fully adhere to PGSA transit regulations, declaration procedures, and local maritime requirements.
They expressed deep regret for any inconvenience and administrative issues caused to the authority as a consequence of the charterer’s erroneous instructions.
The letter further conveyed their continued full commitment to regulatory compliance and requested the support of relevant authorities during these challenging times.
Finally, they requested that PGSA accept their sincere apologies and remove the vessel’s name/case from the Non-Compliance List.
