Former Qatar PM Calls for End to Iran Sanctions, Normalization of Strait of Hormuz Traffic

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamad bin Jassim, the former Prime Minister of Qatar, emphasized Iran’s demands regarding its assets, the lifting of sanctions, and the return to normal conditions. He stated that any potential agreement must include the annulment of sanctions on Iran, the restitution of its assets, and the gradual removal of the economic blockade imposed before the conflict began.

Bin Jassim reiterated his long-held belief that the sanctions against Iran were unjustifiable. He asserted that in parallel with these developments, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened and revert to its previous state.

The former Qatari leader further contended that maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz must resume its pre-war status without any preconditions, tariffs, or controls imposed by any party.

He highlighted the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restoring the free movement of ships in the region. Concurrently, he acknowledged Iran’s right to see its vital and economic affairs return to normalcy and for the current blockade to cease. Bin Jassim also proposed that any agreement should include a clear clause concerning the situation in Yemen, which he believes is directly linked to Iran’s affairs. Additionally, a provision addressing the cessation of attacks in Lebanon and along the Iraqi border was suggested.
