European Central Bank Projects Higher Eurozone Inflation for 2027-2028

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde has indicated that inflation in the Eurozone for 2027 and 2028 is now projected to be higher than previously estimated. This upward revision is largely attributed to the impact of rising energy prices.

Lagarde stated that the shock from the surge in energy prices is significant and cannot be overlooked, emphasizing the necessity of a measured response to curb inflation. She further noted that the economic outlook remains fraught with considerable uncertainty, presenting risks of both increased inflation and slower economic growth.

The latest projections from the ECB forecast Eurozone inflation to stand at approximately 3 percent in 2026, 2.5 percent in 2027, and 2.1 percent in 2028. The inflation outlook for 2027 and 2028 shows an increase compared to earlier estimates.
