Bosnia and Herzegovina Holds General Elections with Biometric Voting

Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are participating in nationwide elections today to select members of the tripartite presidency and legislative bodies. This election marks the first time biometric identification systems are being utilized across all polling stations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina cast their votes in general elections today to elect Bosniak, Serb, and Croat members of the Presidency, as well as representatives for national and entity-level legislative bodies. The voting process commenced this morning and will continue until 8:00 PM. For the first time, biometric identification systems, ballot scanning, and video surveillance are being implemented in all approximately 4,500 polling stations. Ballots will be scanned and sent directly to the Central Election Commission, with the first results anticipated around 8:00 PM. Twelve candidates are competing for the presidency of Republika Srpska, and prominent figures from all three constituent communities are among the candidates for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
