UN Condemns US Plan to Livestream Nidal Hasan Execution as Torture

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has stated that the US authorities’ decision to broadcast the execution of Nidal Hasan live constitutes an act of torture. The organization emphasized that the actions of the US authorities are in direct conflict with the absolute prohibition of torture under international law.
Earlier, the US Department of Defense, known as the Pentagon, announced that the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, a soldier accused of killing 13 people at a military base, would be carried out publicly and broadcast live. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated, “We must ensure that people see this operation, and it will be public.”
Several days prior, US President Donald Trump had approved the execution of Nidal Hasan, an army psychologist responsible for the deaths of 13 people at a military base. Nidal Hasan fatally shot 13 individuals and wounded 30 others at Fort Hood military base in Texas in 2009. A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and President Trump had agreed to the execution by firing squad for Nidal Malik Hasan.
This will be the first execution carried out by the US military since 1961.
