Israel Expands Gaza ‘Yellow Line,’ Forcing Palestinian Displacement

The Israeli army has expanded its designated ‘Yellow Line’ buffer zone in Gaza, compelling numerous residents to evacuate their homes as the occupied territory’s boundaries are redrawn.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli army has expanded the no-go area known as the ‘Yellow Line’ in the Gaza Strip, leading to the displacement of a number of residents from various areas of the enclave. This expansion, reported by Anadolu Agency, marks a significant shift in the occupied military’s control.

Occupation forces have repositioned the ‘Yellow Line’ west of the Shuja’iyya neighborhood. The line now extends to approximately 10 meters from Salah al-Din Street, east of Gaza City. Residents of Shuja’iyya awoke at dawn to discover that the concrete blocks demarcating the ‘Yellow Line’ had been moved westward, now situated directly in front of their homes, signaling a new phase of the occupation army’s control in eastern Gaza City.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, described a “terrifying and anxious night” to Anadolu Agency, characterized by heavy explosions and gunfire from the occupation army and its vehicles. This morning, however, they found themselves surrounded by concrete blocks.

This territorial encroachment by the Israeli army has resulted in the displacement of dozens of Palestinian families to the western parts of Gaza City, as their homes now fall within the newly controlled zone. Although military vehicles withdrew after their incursion, the placement of concrete blocks clearly indicates the area is under the occupation army’s dominance and its residents are at risk.

Following the expansion of this zone, some Gaza residents have been compelled to abandon their homes and residential areas as they now lie within the new ‘Yellow Line’ perimeter. These developments occur precisely one year after the ceasefire agreement for the Gaza Strip was implemented.

The ceasefire agreement stipulated that occupying forces would remain in 53% of the Gaza Strip’s area, a zone demarcated by Israeli barriers and lines known as the ‘Yellow Line.’ However, according to official data, the occupation army continues to control approximately 70% of the Gaza Strip after one year. Since the ceasefire’s inception, Israel has reduced the intensity of its assaults but has continued attacks on the Gaza Strip on an almost daily basis.
