US Diplomat Families Evacuating Middle East Posts Amid Escalating Tensions

U.S. diplomatic families across the Middle East, excluding Oman and Israel, are reportedly being evacuated as the State Department prepares orders for staff and dependents’ departures, an action described by regional diplomats as exceeding standard security recommendations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Channel 15 television has claimed that the families of American diplomats are being evacuated from various locations across the Middle East, with the exception of Oman and Israel. This move, according to two regional diplomats, goes beyond usual security advisories.

Three U.S. officials announced on Wednesday that the U.S. State Department is preparing orders for the departure of a number of staff members and their family members from U.S. embassies in the Persian Gulf region. This action, according to two officials, is being taken in anticipation of a potential resumption of conflicts, particularly involving the Yemeni army.

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh issued a security warning on Wednesday regarding the possibility of further Yemeni army attacks on Saudi Arabia. This warning followed attacks on Saudi Arabia, including an assault on Riyadh airport.

Two U.S. officials also stated that the potential departure order could include the evacuation of all staff and their family members from the U.S. diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia.
