Syria Plan to Deploy Thousands of Fighters to Support Saudi Coalition in Yemen War

Reports indicate that Syria has reached an agreement to deploy thousands of fighters to support the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, with plans to scale operations and oversee drone coordination.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, reports emerging from regional sources indicate that Damascus is set to dispatch 3,000 fighters to assist in the military campaign against Yemen under the framework of the Saudi-led coalition.

This arrangement reportedly follows a visit by self-proclaimed Syrian leader Abu Mohammad al-Golani to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. According to insider sources, the agreement outlines the potential deployment of more than 10,000 fighters across multiple phases.

Furthermore, intelligence and field reports suggest that the Syrian personnel stationed in the region will be tasked with directing and supervising drone strikes in operational sectors.

Previously, international news agencies citing Syrian military sources and a United States official revealed that dozens of Syrian military personnel had arrived in Saudi Arabia in recent weeks to train Saudi forces and allied Yemeni factions.

In connection with these developments, the unnamed U.S. official warned that direct military involvement by Damascus to assist Riyadh in the Yemen conflict could drag Syria into broader regional confrontations with severe repercussions.

Meanwhile, official Syrian state media channels have previously dismissed similar reports regarding troop deployments to Yemen as baseless rumors.
