French Presidential Candidate Jean Luc Melenchon Vows Support for Palestine and Condemns Zionist Policies

Jean-Luc Melenchon, leader of the left-wing France Unbowed party and a candidate for the 2027 French presidential election, has outlined his foreign policy vision, emphasizing direct support for Palestinians, opposition to Israeli expansionism, and a call to protect Christian communities in the region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Jean-Luc Melenchon, leader of the left-wing France Unbowed party and a candidate in France’s upcoming 2027 presidential election, detailed his perspectives and platforms regarding developments in the West Asia region during a recent political rally held in Le Bourget, located in northern Paris.

During his address, the prominent French political figure underscored the imperative of supporting Palestinians, stating, "We will take direct action to assist the Palestinians, both in confronting what we term genocide in Gaza and in opposing the gradual annexation of the West Bank."

He further noted, "French vessels will, if necessary, escort fleets bound for Gaza that have mobilized to defend the rights of the Palestinian people."

Expressing firm opposition to the step-by-step encroachment by the Zionist regime on the West Bank, southern Lebanon, and the Golan Heights, the French politician stressed that Paris categorically rejects such measures.

In another segment of his speech, Melenchon called for the implementation of operational plans to safeguard Christian communities residing in Palestine and Lebanon, reminding the audience that these vulnerable groups are enduring severe conditions under siege and mounting pressure.

As a leading figure on the French political left, Melenchon brings a strong track record from previous presidential bids. In the 2022 electoral campaign, he secured third place by capturing nearly 22 percent of the total vote.

According to his announced platform for the 2027 presidential race, Melenchon has positioned several key pillars at the core of his foreign policy: pursuing a foreign policy independent of the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), defending Palestinian demands, opposing settlement expansion and the annexation of Palestinian lands, and imposing sanctions on the cabinet led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
