Hamas emphasized: We strongly condemn the biased position of the US towards the occupying regime and we ask the international community to support the struggle of the Palestinian nation and its legitimate right to self-determination. Our nation will continue to fight and resist until the occupiers are expelled and the independent state of Palestine is established with Jerusalem as its capital. We appreciate the positions of the countries that stood by Palestine and voted in favor of this resolution, as well as the country of Algeria, the Arab Group, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement that supported this resolution.

The United States vetoed the resolution proposed by Algeria, which demanded the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations, at the early morning meeting of the United Nations Security Council. America had previously threatened to veto the resolution. The approval of this resolution meant the recognition of the Palestinian state.

Previously, there were news about America’s attempt to put pressure on other countries to vote against Palestine’s membership in the United Nations. In this voting, 12 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, and the votes of England and Switzerland also abstained. This is the fourth US veto to support the Zionist regime since the beginning of the Gaza war.

The Palestinian Authority condemned America’s opposition to the country’s full membership in the United Nations and described it as “unjust and unjustified”.
