In a statement by the Security and Defense Council of France and Germany, the two countries announced that they will expand Europe’s defense capabilities due to the change in the security policy situation.

The council announced after a meeting in Germany’s Mesberg Palace that, together with other partners, extensive cooperation will be carried out in the field of long-range weapons development. Accordingly, the move is also intended to strengthen the arms industry.

The Security Council declared that both countries support a combination of nuclear, conventional and missile defense capabilities. This process should also be completed with capabilities in the field of space and cyber defense.

The council, which was attended by the Chancellor of Germany, the President of France and the Foreign and Defense Ministers of both countries, also made “significant progress” in the joint development of a ground combat system (MGCS) and a last-generation air combat system (FCAS) in collaboration confirmed Spain.
