The arrival of a large Chinese ship in the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines

Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Jay Tarella announced that a huge Chinese Coast Guard ship entered the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone in the South China Sea.

According to the RT report, Tarla wrote on Platform X: The Philippine Coast Guard was able to successfully monitor the movements of the giant ship CCG-5901, which is 165 meters long and belongs to the Chinese Coast Guard.

He added: This ship entered the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines in the beginning of July this year on the way to Ayungin Shoal and then moved towards Panganiban. The ship was then found moving towards the Iskoda River where it was currently anchored.

There is a territorial dispute between China and the Philippines and other countries in the region over the ownership of the Spratly Islands (Nansha) in the South China Sea. These islands are distinguished by their rich biological resources, strategic location between the Indian and Pacific oceans, and their potential oil and gas reserves. In 2016, a court in The Hague recognized this area as an exclusive economic zone for the Philippines.

The situation in the South China Sea has also become more difficult due to the passage of American warships through this sea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China describes it as a violation of international laws and a weakening of China’s sovereignty and security.
