The domination of the Russian army over the strategic city/ why is the liberation of Ogoldar important?
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, citing Sputnik, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced today the liberation of the strategic town of Ogoldar from the hands of the Ukrainian army.
The statement of the Ministry of Defense of Russia states: As a result of the crushing actions of our forces, the city of Ogeldar in Donetsk was liberated.
Ugeldar was one of the most fortified and difficult settlements in the southwest of the Donetsk region for attacks. The fact is that this village is a multi-story building surrounded by several kilometers of flat land.
According to the New York Times, the capture of Ogledar will push Ukrainian forces further away from key railways and highways. On the contrary, Russia will be able to restore reliable supplies in the south and use the Mariupol port railway.
Ugeldar’s control also gives Russian forces the opportunity to intensify their offensive in the direction of Pokrovsk, the main logistics hub in the Donetsk People’s Democratic Republic. The Russians have already concentrated their forces for attacks west of the city – they will undermine Ukrainian supply lines.
According to analysts, the capture of this key city, which served as an important stronghold for the Ukrainian armed forces, strengthens Russia’s control over the Donetsk region.
