Erdogan goes to Damascus; Attending the Umayyad Mosque and a possible meeting with Al-Jolani
reported Mehr News Agency quoted by Turkey Daily, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Damascus soon.
This Turkish media wrote that Erdogan plans to worship in the historical Umayyad mosque during this trip. It is said that this trip will take place within the next 15 days, but no exact date has been announced.
Also, according to this media, speculations about Erdoğan’s meeting with Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, the leader of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which currently controls Syria, have increased.
This newspaper wrote that Erdogan’s possible visit to Damascus will be a significant turning point in Ankara-Damascus relations, especially after the fall of the government of Bashar al-Assad, the former president of Syria.
After the fall of Damascus on December 8th following the attack of armed rebels and terrorist groups “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”, Bashar Assad, the former president of this country, sought refuge in Russia And Muhammad al-Bashir took charge of affairs as the interim prime minister on December 10.
